Overview

Multiprotocol Test Suite

Telecom Networks become more and more complex to test and integrate with allIP migration on one side and existing legacy solutions on the other.

MTS Multiprotocol Test Suite reduces the costs and the duration of non regression, Inter operability Test, integration & acceptance phases especially in migration to VoIP and deployment of convergence services thanks to its embedded script automation architecture for multiprotocol testing.

This platform supports several architectures:

  • NGN based for legacy carriers;
  • MTS based for mobile operators;
  • TISPAN for mixed operators.

All these architectures separate the media and control layers and the inter-layer communication is based on normalized interfaces and protocols.

These architectures have in common the use of normalized protocols for the control of services.

Before deploying a new service on such a network, MTS Multiprotocol Test Suite allows to detect and suppress any issue of the infrastructure. Most of non quality is introduced with errors during the implementation of the network component.

The earlier these errors are detected, the less important the impact on the service is, guaranteeing a better acceptance of new services by the general public.
 

 

Technical Overview

MTS Multiprotocol Test Suite simulates the environment of a UUT and monitors the exchanged messages. MTS Multiprotocol Test Suite manages the main MTS protocols : SIP, RTP, DIAMETER, HTTP and many other application protocols like RADIUS, SOAP, RTSP, SMTP, IMAP, POP, SMPP, UCP … and at the transport level: UDP, TCP and SCTP.

The tests are described with scenarios written in XML. With the MTS Multiprotocol Test Suite product, testers are able to perform:

  • Protocol, functional and non-regression tests (sequential mode)
  • Load endurance and stress tests (load mode)
  • Simulation of the client, server or both sides

It is possible to remotely run a test on different machines with the master/slave feature (scalability feature). Users can interact through 2 interfaces:

  • A graphical one for test writing and tuning
  • A command-line one for load or automatic testing

The product is user friendly with logging management and rich statistics presentation. The product is written in java and runs on many commercial platforms (Windows, Linux and so on). There is no need to buy expensive hardware. The application is modular and you buy only the modules you need.

  • Test of many Applications Servers for SIP/HTTP/Diameter protocols as the Call Server (S-CSCF feature). Projects:  AS phone Broadsoft, Stop Secret, Mobility Enabler, PCS.
  • Test as client of the Diameter interfaces CX, SH, RO/RF on the Ericsson HSS server.
  • Test the SBC pinholing features with the SIP/RTP protocols simulating terminals (end to end tests).
  • Test for the non regression of the IMS Ericsson solution as terminals (end to end) into SIP/RTP protocols. Same suite of tests also used for NSN and ALU IMS core platform.
  • Integration into a tool designed by Devoteam to test the mailling server with SMTP/IMAP/POP and SMPP/UCP protocols.

 

eServ Global

  • Simulation of a HTTP/SOAP server with predefined responses.
  • Simulation of a TCP responder with different answers automatically generated on the fly after request analysis.

 

SFR/TDF

  • Test of an anonymization server dealing with the TCP protocol.

 

IUT Lannion

  • Training of students on the SIP/Diameter protocols; IMSLoader has proved a pedagogic interest to teach protocols.
